If you love birds and nature, I think you are going to love these awesome new ornaments we are now carrying at the store! These Fair Trade and lightweight ornaments are made from sustainably harvested balsa wood. They are hand-carved by a cooperative of artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Very carefully hand-carved that is – the tool of choice used by this artisan cooperative is the machete! Apparently, this detailed artform is not uncommon among Central and South American folk artists!

The artists achieve the bold colors you see in the photos by using non-toxic acrylic paints. The ornaments are approximately 5” x 2”. Take a minute and click through the photos – from the first to the last these ornaments are really incredible!
